The next Air New Zealand safety video is a star-studded affair – featuring names as prominent as Eliza McCartney, Rachel Hunter and Mike Hosking.
Hosking was caught unawares by a Seven Sharp reporter on the set of the shoot, which also featured a gorgeous and quintessentially New Zealand backdrop.
Rachel Hunter reprises a role “going back 30 years, to an ice-cream job I did,” she revealed.
She returns to the iconic VW Beetle in which she so famously enjoyed a Trumpet ice cream all those years ago.
It is not just long-standing celebrities who are showcased in the video.
Teenage pole-vaulting sensation Eliza McCartney, who is responsible for life-jacket instruction, described shooting the safety briefing as “fun”.
“The highlight was getting to jump off the boat into the beautiful, warm water.”
Air NZ safety videos have historically had mixed reactions – the recent effort involving Rhys Darby and Anna Faris was applauded for its humour, while an earlier swimsuit-themed piece was criticised by regulators.
But this piece of diverse Kiwiana is sure to prove a hit, if the behind-the-scenes are anything to go by.
