Actor Roger Moore, most famously known playing Jame Bond, has died after battling cancer at age 89.

Moore’s big breakthrough was in 1962 with coveted role The Saint in the popular television series of the same name.  But it was in 1973 when he scored the role of James Bond taking over the position from Sean Connery as the third actor to play 007. He starred in the films The Man with the Golden Gun, The Spy who Loved Me, Moonraker and Octopussy. It was said in that time that he earned 14 million British pounds (NZ$28Million).

After these roles he went into semi-retirement, and in 1991 he became a UNICEF ambassador, a role which he was in until his passing.
