The Ruapehu District Council has decided it will open the Taumarunui Town Pool this summer… if it can. The fate of the Taumarunui public pool will have to wait until further investigations are undertaken but the council hopes to have it open by mid to late January next year. Mayor Don Cameron said if the evidence showed the damage was costly, then the evidence was there to close the pool, without being challenged. Repairs have now been approved depending on the outcome of the exploratory work.
