Only three weeks after the same-sex marriage poll results were announced, Australian government have accepted the same-sex marriage bill into their country.
There were emotional scenes on the floor and in the public gallery of the House of Representatives after politicians voted to make same-sex marriage legal in Australia. And social media followed suit:
Australians erupt into song as marriage equality becomes law:
“We are one, but we are many,
And from all the lands on earth we come,
We’ll share a dream and sing with one voice:
‘I am, you are, we are Australian.'” https://t.co/IsePWEmSK0— Ben Winsor (@BenBWinsor) December 7, 2017
