It’s a baby girl for Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and the buzz is being all over the world. Ardern’s pregnancy and childbirth is significant as she’s the first world leader to give birth in office since Benazir Bhutto, the prime minister of Pakistan did in 1990.

Interestingly Jacinda Ardern’s baby girl shares a birthday with the late Prime Minister too:

Ardern’s office confirmed she gave birth to a “healthy baby girl”, weighing 3.31 kilograms, at 4.45pm on Thursday.

Ardern shared a photo of her and partner Clarke Gayford with their new arrival on Instagram, saying: “Welcome to our village we one.”

There were well wishes sent from Helen Clark in NZ:

Also well wishes from the US ambassador here in NZ!

UK Prime Minister Theresa May and Australia’s Labor Party leader Bill Shorten also congratulated the couple on the birth.

A big congratulations are in order for Miss Ardern, we’ll see you in 6 weeks!
