SIX60 have made history by being the first New Zealand band to sell out Western Springs stadium in Auckland.

Selling 50,000 tickets in just 10 weeks, frontman Matiu Walters told Stuff it’s an achievement that has the band feeling “a great amount of pride.”

“We were confident, but there was a level of fear in making the decision, because it is such a big place. Starting a band, you dream for moments like this,” he said.

An independent band, SIX60’s most recent EP has been at the top of the NZ Album Chart for 42 weeks. Currently holding the number two spot, their 2015 self-titled album has also held strong, boasting an unbroken 184 week run.

Fellow local acts Drax Project, Sons of Zion, Swidt and Ilbaz have been announced as support for the February 23 show.
