The New Zealand Music Foundation has been given a new name, with a very famous name attached.

Lorde has joined founding patron Neil Finn as the not-for-profit organisation rebrands as MusicHelps, a name it says “speaks to the heart of [its] core purpose”.

The charity says it’s invested $300,000 in 66 projects over the last five years, changing the lives of over 60,000 New Zealanders in need.

Lorde says it’s an honour to become a MusicHelps patron.

The charity uses music to change the lives of those who are at-risk, vulnerable or experiencing serious health challenges. It’s also the official charity of the 2018 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards, which takes place at Auckland’s Spark Arena on November 15 and will be broadcast live on Three.
