Air New Zealand is dropping its much-derided rap safety video.
The three-month-old clip will be replaced by the company’s 2016 Summer of Safety video, starring Rachel Hunter, Olympic medalist Eliza McCartney, Joe Naufahu from Game of Thrones and Jayden Daniels from Shortland Street, and filmed in Northland.
The airline spent $2.5 million on It’s Kiwi Safety, which featured Hunt for the Wilderpeople and Deadpool star Julian Dennison, launching it in November, 2018.
Most recently, American rapper Denzel Curry criticised the video in a tweet saying: “that s… was funny” while in New Zealand for the Laneway Festival.
He was reportedly heard during a flight into New Zealand, saying “it’s still going” while the clip of Kiwi rapper Kings was mid-emergency instruction.
