Disgraced R&B star R. Kelly, who is the subject of multiple sexual misconduct allegations spanning 24 years, recently announced an official New Zealand tour… and then deleted the tweet.
Kelly took to Twitter to announce: “New tour alert. Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, see y’all soon!” But the announcement tweet has been deleted just a few days later. It could have been because of the hoards of angry people replying along the lines of “No you won’t”.
The incriminating docu-series “Surviving R. Kelly” has also just recently been released in NZ on TVNZ ON Demand. The timing couldn’t be more awkward.
Women’s Refuge chief executive said allowing Kelly into New Zealand sets a bad example for men.
“It stops the conversation about changing behaviour, and it calls into question the need for change for some men,” she said. “There’s been no indication that (Kelly) sees anything wrong with his behaviour.”
Well it looks like we may be avoiding that scenario anyway!
