Sixteen years after our last World Cup triumph, coach Noeline Taurua has turned our Silver Ferns into World champions. Firstly sweeping aside the tournament hosts England in the semi-final, then this morning, rightfully swiping the crown from the winners of the last 3 tournaments, Australia, by 52-51.

Joining our other Netball World Cup triumphs from 1967, ’79, ’87 and 2003, funnily enough it’s been 16 years since our last triumph in 2003, and when we won in 2003, it had been 16 years since since our previous triumph in 1987. Hoping we don’t have to wait another 16 years to taste more success…

But for now, let us bask in World Cup glory.. World Cup glory that didn’t even require a Super Over or a boundary count to be confirmed..
