Tour promoter Michael Chugg revealed today that organisers had considered rescheduling the two remaining Mt Smart concerts for mid-2020, but scratched the idea because of the New Zealand winter.
Instead, John – who is suffering from walking pneumonia – will perform the two concerts, which had been due to play tonight and tomorrow, next January. It follows the abandoned Sunday night concert at Mt Smart, in which John had to be assisted off stage with a lost voice, just after he attempted starting the 16th of 25 songs.
I want to thank everyone who attended the #EltonFarewellTour gig in Auckland tonight.
I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia earlier today, but I was determined to give you the best show humanly possible. pic.twitter.com/5hBSJNqWl1

Due to John’s international Farewell Yellow Brick Road dates filling the remainder of the calendar year, the performer will return at the earliest possible opportunity; January 2021, the statement said.
Tickets for John’s concert today will be valid for the January 15 concert next year.
Tickets for tomorrow’s show will be valid for January 16, 2021.
Those unable to attend the rescheduled shows next year can contact Ticketmaster to request a refund.
