All Transfer Stations and the Landfill are currently open, but operating under limited service.

This situation may change depending on how the situation progresses.

The focus of Alert Level 4 is on stopping the spread of the virus by reducing social contact to the bare minimum, while maintaining essential services only.

PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE TRAVELLING TO THEIR TRANSFER STATION TO DROP OFF RUBBISH AND/OR RECYCLING UNLESS:

  • It is by a commercial operator in support of an essential service
  • The disposal of rubbish is necessary to maintain health and safety

Green waste and normal household rubbish (outside of being necessary to maintain health and safety) is not being accepted at this time.

Recycling is also not being accepted at this time as Envirowaste has had to close down their Materials Sorting Facility. As such we are asking people to hold on to their recycling as unfortunately it will go to landfill (which we all want to avoid).

The Transfer Stations will have personnel at the front gate to ensure the guidelines are being adhered to.

No payment can be accepted so all household rubbish must be in an official pink Council rubbish bag.

Utilising waste minimisation methods can significantly reduce your rubbish and this is encouraged where possible.

For more information on reducing waste through reusing, recycling and compositing see Council’s Waste Minimisation webpage.
