Think our COVID test hurts? China’s now testing up the rear…

You read it right…

Over in China, health officials are now testing ‘High Risk’ residents in Beijing for the coronavirus with anal swabs

Experts believe it is more accurate, especially when testing those who are asymptomatic. Not everyone is on board though as all experts are split believing that the traditional swabbing of the throat and nose is the best and least invasive method to test for Covid-19

The anal swabs have to be inserted 2-3cms, then they are rotated a couple of times, before being removed and sealed in a sterile container for transportation to the lab for processing Overall the procedure takes an estimated 10 seconds.

The medical experts that are in support of anal swabbing believe that COVID stays in the anus longer than it does in the nose or throat. “If we conduct anal swabs for nucleic acid testing, it would increase the detection rates of patients and lower the chance of a missed diagnosis.”

If you do have to get a test just remember, it could be a lot more uncomfortable if you were in China…
