Work will begin south of Raetihi on SH4 next week, Tuesday 5 May, and will continue throughout May and June. The focus for the project is on installing an interim dewatering system that will stabilise the slip area at Te Oreore.
To start with the contractor will build access tracks and do drainage upgrades. The next steps include drilling boreholes and wells, and installing pumps to remove ground water into drains, which will carry the water away from the site.
A Covid-19 health and safety plan will be followed to ensure the team work safely at Level 3. If you see our work crew as you’re driving by, give them a toot, they’re stepping outside of their bubbles to do vital work to keep everyone safe on the road.
