An institution of the Central North Island is calling it time. After 33 years of taking to the skies of the Ruapehu Region, Mountain Air is shutting up shop.
Based at the Chateau Airfield on the edge of the breathtaking Tongariro National Park, Mountain Air has been owned by Bhrent and Kathy Guy since 2007.
It comes as a result of the ongoing effects of Covid-19 border closures rattle the tourism industry, Mountain Air Volcanic Flights, announced its decision to close this week on Facebook.

In an Interview with the Rotorua Daily Post, Owner Bhrent Guy said the decision to close the business was “incredibly difficult” to make but “once we made it I saw the sense of it”.
The last day of operations will be Next Monday, March 29th, 2021.
