It’s now mandatory to wear a face mask in public

-

Mask wearing is now mandatory for everyone aged 12 and over when they are visiting any of the essential services that are currently open, including supermarkets, pharmacies and service stations

The legal requirement came into effect at 11:59 PM on Wednesday and was initially announced by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern during Wednesday’s 1pm press conference.

Staff will also be required to wear a mask. Mandatory mask use will now also include places like bus terminals and taxis.

“Simply put, at level 4 if you are in a place that is allowed to be open to provide services to people, or transport, you must wear a mask”

During the Wednesday Press, Conference Arden said “Wearing a mask is an act of care to the people around you”

You can find masks in Supermarkets, pharmacies, or you can order reusable ones online. Heck with all this spare time on our hands due to lockdown you could even try making one!
