With fuel prices hitting record highs, NZ Police are sharing essential tips to prevent siphoning and theft. Here is how to protect your vehicle this Easter.
With petrol prices currently biting hard, your fuel tank has officially become a target for thieves. NZ Police have responded to growing public concern by issuing a “Prevention First” guide to keep your 91 and Diesel where it belongs—in your car.
If you’re heading away this weekend, Police suggest parking your vehicle in a well-lit area or, ideally, inside a locked garage. If you have to park on the street, try to position your fuel cap close to a wall or another vehicle to restrict access. For our partners at Turangi Marine and those with boats on trailers, ensure you’re using locking fuel caps and keeping an eye on your storage levels. A little bit of “defensive parking” can save you a very expensive—and very annoying—trip to the pump on Easter Monday.
