The beginning of the end has officially arrived for the Stranger Things saga. On November 7, 2025, Netflix released the first five minutes of Stranger Things Season 5, titled “The Crawl,” confirming that the final chapter will bring the story of the Hawkins crew full circle. This new look at the final season is packed with nostalgia and chilling stakes.
A Haunting Stranger Flashback
Instead of opening in the ruined, quarantined Hawkins of 1987, the footage unexpectedly flashes back to November 6, 1983—the very moment Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) was first snatched. Viewers finally witness Will’s frantic, terrifying escape through the Upside Down before Vecna’s influence takes hold. This return to the genesis of the mystery confirms Will’s central, unique connection to the dark dimension will be key to defeating the monster once and for all.
The scene answers a long-standing question of why Will was taken rather than killed, with a terrifying glimpse of Vecna (Jamie Campbell-Bower) asserting control: “You are going to help me… one… last… time.” This suggests Will was the first “recruit,” making the emotional stakes for the final battle intensely personal.
Eleven in Warrior Mode
The new season is set to be “full throttle.” Hawkins is scarred by the massive Rifts left by Vecna, and the government has placed the town under military quarantine, forcing Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) back into hiding. The Stranger Things synopsis teases Eleven in a “warrior mode,” completely focused on protecting her friends and saving her town. The original cast returns for the final fight, joined by sci-fi icon Linda Hamilton in a mysterious new role.
