Everything you need to know about the Taupo Marathon

One of New Zealand’s longest-standing events is happening this weekend (Saturday, July 31st) Here’s everything you need to know about the Taupo Marathon

There are 5-course options, something for all abilities 

Registration 

To register headlong to the Great Lake Centre in Taupo. Before competing ALL participants collect their race number and timing strip from event headquarters before heading to the start line.

  • 6.00am to 7.15 am for marathon entrants

  • 7.00am to 8.45am for half marathon entrants

  • 7.00am to 9.40am for 10k, 5k, and kids dash entrants

Note: Late entries will be accepted Saturday Morning up to 15 mins prior to the start of each event

Road Closures (Saturday)

Finish

The finish line is in Tongariro North Domain, adjacent to the Great Lake Centre. The finish line will close at 4.30pm

Water and Electrolytes will be available to all participants in the Finish Area to help you recover. There will also be a Medical/First Aid Station at the finish line should you need any assitance. All Finishers will receive a medal, and to sweeten the deal upon exiting the finishing area all finishers will be treated to a chocy fish!

Prizegiving 

Prizegiving will be held on the Tongariro North Domain and will kick off at 3.00 pm. The prizegiving will take place rain or shine

All major spot prizes will be drawn at random, and the lucky winners will be required to present a Valid ID to claim major spot prizes.

 

Recovery & Celebration

The legends from SPEIGHT’S will be providing some great beverage options in addition to the live music that will be playing at the event base throughout the day!

There will be massages available in the Great Lake Centre for a small fee, and rinse off with showers located in the Super Loo adjacent to the Great Lake Centre.
