Completes $4.3 Million Dollar Lift Upgrade Project, Weather System Delivers Snow

-

The week before Tūroa Ski-field officially opened, Pure Tūroa completed its first large-scale
project. Specialist contractor, Doppelmayr, have finished the upgrade of two of the integral
chairlifts of the ski-field – the Movenpick and Park Lane.

The Movenpick and Parklane Chairlifts have been upgraded to the latest Doppelmayr
operating systems which include improved safety and control. While these changes won’t be visible to mountain-goers, the upgrades greatly improve the reliability of the lifts, helping to ensure less downtime and smoother operation. It is also a significant step forward in Pure Tūroa’s commitment to more environmentally sustainable operations.

Operations Manager, Fred Campbell, says that “The upgrades will impact our guests’
experience hugely. Historically the operation of these lifts has been an issue, causing late
starts. We’re looking forward to getting people up the mountain faster, so that they can get
the most out of their days on the ski-field.” Pure Tūroa Directors Cameron Robertson and
Greg Hickman, celebrated the first project completion under the new ownership. Robertson
commented “The team has done a great job. They’ve been busy all Summer and it’s great to see some results that will directly improve our guests’ time on Tūroa.”

Last weekend was also the official start of Tūroas 2024 season. Cameron followed, “We
were able to open our lower mountain facilities to thousands of happy people, including the
Alpine Meadow for skiing, snowboard, lessons and sledding, as well as the Parklane chairlift
for sightseeing. The upper mountain is currently closed due to a weather system moving
across the mountain. We’ve received almost 60cm of snowfall in the last 24 hours which
we’re really excited about.”

Measuring stick at 2,000m.

Snow dependent, Tūroa is working hard to open some of their chairlifts during the upcoming July school holidays. Hickman added, “We’re excited to welcome more people to Tūroa this month, we’ve made lots of changes and we know they’ll love them – especially the food!”
