Don’t wanna wear a mask Karen? ….. Take this!

-

In case you haven’t noticed, we’ve been in the midst of a global pandemic for the past several months. There are a lot of things you can do to protect yourself from COVID-19 and to help prevent its spread among the population. One of the most effective ways to do that is to wear a face mask when you’re out in public. That will keep you from breathing or expelling droplets that could contain the coronavirus. Unfortunately, many people are refusing to wear masks, which is why YouTuber Allen Pan created a cannon to shoot masks at people’s faces

There are very few legitimate reasons to not wear a mask. Infants may be an exception, but otherwise you should be wearing a mask unless your doctor advises against it. Even so, many people are strolling around in public without masks — because “freedom” or something. Most places now have legal mandates in place requiring them, but people still refuse. Pan figured he’d exercise his 2nd amendment rights in order to protect himself and others. To accomplish that, he built a pneumatic cannon capable of firing a mask at a person’s face.

This handheld cannon was cobbled together from various parts. The grip came from a spray paint handle, the frame was laser cut, and the pneumatic system is CO2-powered and very similar to what he used to make the swing launcher he built for Colin Furze’s Christmas gift. The mask has strings with weights at the end that wrap around the back of the target’s head to hold the mask securely in place after it makes contact. To make it easy to aim, the cannon was equipped with a laser sight. After testing, Pan took the mask cannon out the Huntington Beach, California to find out how receptive the public was to the idea. People seemed pretty excited about this new way to fight COVID-19, though Pan obviously didn’t shoot anyone without their consent.
