Now you’ll be able to order your beverage of choice throughout Auckland – with Christchurch and Wellington launching soon!

Starting today, Aucklanders will be the first to try out UberEats brand new feature on the app. Just open the app and search in the alcohol category for bottle stores nearby.

Uber Easts has teamed up with the NZ Alcohol Beverages Council and DrinkWise to safe alcohol consumption as part of the service.

There are a couple of rules that go with this service

  • They’ll be limits on the amount of alcohol you can order, under the legal requirements.

  • You must verify your age when you sign up for an Uber Eats account, when you’re placing your order and you’ll also have to present a valid form of ID to the delivery person who will then scan your ID before handing over your order. No ID- no order!

  • You won’t receive your order if you’re visibly intoxicated. The delivery person will be paid to return it to the store and you’ll receive a refund.

  • You can opt out- for some people alcohol can be a trigger, so you can ask to be excluded from accessing alcohol ordering and from marketing emails.

How good is this! Here’s hoping that this service comes to the Central North Island. Our money says Taupo gets it first!
