After 14 years under the control of others following her 2008 breakdown, the popstars conservatorship was officially terminated.
A conservatorship is a legal status to which a court appoints a person to manage an individual’s legal, financial, medical, and business affairs.
During the ruling Judge Brenda Penny said “As of today, the conservatorship of the person and estate of Britney Jean Spears is hereby terminated”
Fans gathered outside the Los Angeles courthouse celebrating chantting “Britney! Britney! Britney!”
Spears, 39, posted to Instagram saying “God I love my fans so much it’s crazy”

Brittney’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart has vowed to pursue an investigation of James Spears’ role in the conservatorship.
He said he and his team have found mismanagement of Britney Spears’ finances, suggesting she could pursue further legal action.
Court records put her net worth at about $60 million.
