Margot Robbie has her sights on another toy.

The Barbie producer and star is making a Monopoly movie, with Hasbro and Lionsgate behind it, the companies announced on Wednesday at the CinemaCon conference in Las Vegas.

Robbie, and her production company LuckyChap, were the ones who got Barbie to the finish line after many years in development stagnation.

The film topped the box office in 2023 with over US$1.4 billion (NZ$2.3 billion) in ticket sales worldwide.

And now they’ll bring that vision to the classic board game.

Margot Robbie is also set to produce a movie adaptation of ‘The Sims’ video game series.

Following on from their success with ‘Barbie’ and ‘Saltburn’, Robbie and her team at LuckyChap Entertainment are developing a movie about one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time.

‘The Sims’ video game franchise launched in 2000 and has sold more than 200 million copies. Players create and control virtual people called Sims and simulate their daily suburban lives by fulfilling their needs, going to work and raising families.

LuckyChap experienced unparalleled success last year when ‘Barbie’, in which Robbie played the famous toy doll, became the highest-grossing movie of 2023.
