New Zealand’s Warrant of Fitness rules are changing. See if your vehicle qualifies for a two-year inspection cycle and how much you could save.
Owning a modern car in Aotearoa just got a little more affordable. Under new transport regulations taking effect this week, the standard Warrant of Fitness (WoF) cycle is shifting. For newer vehicles—specifically those first registered after January 1, 2022—inspections will now only be required every two years instead of annually.
The move aims to reduce the compliance burden on owners of modern, safer vehicles. However, if you’re hitting the rugged backroads or heading out for a weekend on the water, don’t let the longer gap lead to complacency. Our friends at Turangi Marine remind boaties that even if your tow vehicle doesn’t need a WoF every year, regular safety checks on your trailer and tires are still a must before every trip.
