COVID-19: Air New Zealand crew member who tested positive visited six Auckland shops

It has been revealed that an Air New Zealand crew member who later tested positive for COVID-19 on arrival in China had visited a number of stores in Auckland last weekend – with health officials now urging staff and shoppers to remain alert for symptoms.

The airline staffer tested positive in Shanghai on Sunday, after initially returning a negative result.

They had visited a petrol station, two supermarkets, a paint shop, a pharmacy and a pet shop, according to the Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS). The public health department is continuing to identify locations the suspected case may have visited prior to departing on their flight to Shanghai.

A spokesperson from ARPHS said the department is still completing its investigation and may identify other locations visited by the suspected case.
